At Pimri Pediatrics, we provide a comprehensive, holistic evaluation and physical examination designed to identify the underlying causes of your child's symptoms—not simply manage them.
Many children experiencing chronic health concerns have underlying factors that may not be immediately apparent. Our goal is to understand the whole child and develop a personalized care plan based on their unique needs.
Many families come to us after months or even years of searching for answers. Parents often feel their concerns have been overlooked or that repeated testing has provided few meaningful explanations for their child's ongoing symptoms.
Constipation is one of the most common examples of a condition that is frequently managed by treating symptoms alone. Traditional treatment often focuses on laxatives, bowel clean-outs, scheduled toilet routines, or additional medications. While these approaches may provide temporary relief, they may not always address why the constipation developed in the first place.
Our approach is different. We work to identify possible contributing factors—such as diet, gut health, food sensitivities, microbiome imbalances, or other underlying conditions—so treatment can be directed toward the cause rather than only the symptoms whenever appropriate.
A functional medicine evaluation begins by identifying the root cause of chronic symptoms rather than simply treating the symptoms themselves. Because every child is unique, these appointments are intentionally comprehensive and allow time to explore medical history, lifestyle, nutrition, and environmental influences.
For chronic constipation, we investigate potential contributing factors before developing a treatment plan. Our goal is to understand why constipation is occurring so therapy can be tailored to your child's individual needs.
When appropriate, specialized laboratory testing may be recommended, including comprehensive stool analyses such as GI Effects®, CDSA, or other advanced diagnostic evaluations. Based on the findings, treatment may include probiotics, nutritional changes, avoiding specific trigger foods, or gentle natural therapies such as vitamin C or apple cider products when clinically appropriate.
In our experience, this personalized approach may be helpful for children with complex or persistent health concerns, particularly when conventional evaluations have not provided clear answers.
Evaluations may also include nutritional assessments and specialized testing, such as saliva cortisol or urine hormone analysis, when clinically appropriate and indicated.
