For centuries, these iconic creatures have been a vital resource for the local communities residing in these isolated valleys. A bull Ibex with horns exceeding 40 inches is considered a prized trophy, unforgettable adventure, hunting on horseback at 12,000 feet, surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery.

The King of games & the game of Kings

Polo, aptly dubbed ‘the king of games and the game of kings’, is the oldest and most revered sport in Gilgit-Baltistan. This region is the sole bastion of traditional Freestyle polo, which is showcased in various tournaments. The prestigious Shandur Polo Festival, held annually from July 7th to 9th, is a highlight of the sporting calendar, taking place on the world’s highest polo ground. The thundering hooves of horses, pounding the ground with unbridled ferocity, make Freestyle polo an exhilarating experience like no other – a true adrenaline rush that surpasses even the thrill of a Ferrari.

Events

The Shandur Polo Festival, a vibrant celebration of culture and sport, takes place at the world’s highest polo field, Shandur Top, situated at an elevation of 3,700 meters. This exhilarating event features traditional folk music and dance performances, while a thriving camping village, comprising polo enthusiasts, adventure-seekers, and supporters, adds to the electric atmosphere throughout the tournament, creating an unforgettable experience.
